How long has BMG Seltec been in business? What is the company history?
BMG Controls, Inc. (d/b/a Seltec) is a California corporation headquartered in Livermore, California. Seltec's CEO, Bernard Benson, was an executive with BCEC, the asphalt plant production unit of Boeing Corporation. In 1983, Boeing spun off certain assets of these operations into BMG Corporation, a new company controlled by Mr. Benson. In 1989, the management team of BMG Corporation formed BMG Controls, Inc. for the purpose of acquiring the assets of BMG Seltec Corporation, a well-known controls provider to the asphalt and concrete production industry, established in 1974. In 1994, the management team withdrew from the asphalt plant construction business, dissolving BMG Corporation, in order to focus solely on the supply of industrial controls to the bulk construction material industry through the activities of BMG Controls (d/b/a Seltec). Commencing in 1998 BMG Seltec developed a new Windows based open architecture system that represents the next generation of vertical IT solutions specifically designed for this industry.

BMG Seltec is a privately held corporation. The Company is owned largely by its management and several strategic investors. All are long term investors. Several BMG Seltec customers are shareholders, though none own more than 5% of the Company. As noted above, the Company has been in business since 1990 and its predecessor companies, BMG and Seltec, since 1983 and 1974, respectively - proving our "staying power". The Company is profitable and has recently completed a major equity raise, substantially strengthening our balance sheet, while providing growth capital to accelerate product development plans. The Company has a strong cash balance and no bank debt. Further, BMG Seltec is the primary vendor of critical ticketing applications for four the of five largest suppliers of aggregates in North America - each intimately knowledgeable of Seltec's financial status.
Where are you located?
Our headquarters is in Livermore, California, approximately 40 miles from San Francisco. Customer support, engineering, administration, training, production and hardware quality assurance are all based in California. We have field support and professional services employees based in cities around the United States.

What accounting systems are your systems integrated with?
The short answer is "all" - from major ERP vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP) to shrink-wrap accounting software such as Quickbooks.

At Seltec, our entire company is focused exclusively on this industry. We are leveraging the remarkably powerful and affordable technologies developed for general purpose applications by Microsoft, Intel, Crystal, Citrix and others, in order to deliver information and automation systems that fully support this industry's efforts to achieve new competitive levels of productivity and customer service.

Seltec systems are tailored specifically to the demanding needs of aggregate, asphalt, and concrete producers. Our systems were designed and developed with the active involvement of four of the five largest producers in North America, as well as several forward looking mid-size companies to ensure effective products for any size producer.

We know you have a selection of vendors from which to choose. Nearly all of them produce quality products, capable of performing the functions for which they were designed. Most, however, operate as isolated silos of functionality, with limited ability for two-way communications with upstream sales, customer service, and financial systems.

What differentiates BMG Seltec from other suppliers is our fundamental recognition of how technology is changing the competitive environment. Today you need complete solutions, systems that work together from sales to service to production to accounting - and back again. BMG Seltec has created a complete, effective, and integrated system; all the way from the plant control systems to the front and back-end software that integrates with your accounting package (database management, sales automation, reporting, inventory management, transaction audit, customer service, local and central dispatching, etc.) - one continuous and seamless solution.

Seltec is NOT a lifestyle business. We are not about providing an attractive income or nest egg for our owners. We are about building the kind of supplier this industry needs and deserves. We reinvest every penny we make, and then some, to accomplish that objective. You have told us that the supplier you desire must:

What is your partner strategy? Who are your strategic partners?
We develop strategic partnerships where we can offer complementary solutions to our products. These solutions extend our total solution footprint. Our partnerships are often with other software or hardware providers. We have partnerships with providers of accounting software so that our customers can have a complete and fully integrated system from the plant through to their financials. Some of our partnerships extend our automation in the plants.
